This is a great story about an exceptionally capable bush pilot and his his experiences flying in Alaska and especially flying explorers and rescue missions to Mt. McKinley. I ordered this book for our grand daughter and her husband, an Air Force doctor, who will soon be stationed at ElmendorfAir Force Base near Anchorage, Alaska. Their home will be just a few miles from where Don Sheldon's home base at Talkeetna was located.

This is a very memorable read. Don Jensen was one of a kind. He did things with an airplane which on the surface appear unbelievable, but were routine to him. As a pilot myself, I really felt humbled reading about his exploits.

A very fine book about a true "bush pilot" in Alaska. Don Sheldon apparently set a very fine example for follow-on bush pilots to emulate. The book us a fine read for anyone who has spent time in Alaska.

A friend loaned me this book many years ago. I loved the book and wanted to read it again and add to my library. Excellent story.

Fascinating story told in simple terms. Amazing accomplishments in a much simpler time. Anyone who enjoys this kind of flying will find it worthwhile.

Literally the stuff of childhood dreams. Excellent story of a modern Alaskan bush pilot and his epic experiences.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would love to own a hard copy of it in my library. It truly was a page Turner and kept your attention throughout. After reading this I feel like I have gotten to know Don Sheldon and admire him and his abilities to fly and persevere the many challenges he faced in his life as a bush pilot. Many Players really enjoy the original Call of Cthulhu, which is dark, scary and quite gritty. But others dont care for the fact that their carefully designed and beloved character (Investigator) is heading for..... certain doom.So, Mike Mason and team came up with a slightly different CoC, one where the characters are Pulp Heroes- and in some cases verging on heroes from the Golden Age of Comics (no supers, but Wildcat is doable). Not quite up to Doc Savage or The Shadow, but you can play the likes of Flashgun Casey, Mr. Death , The Phantom, The Spirit, and so forth.The first part of the book explains Pulp Heroes and the genre, then Character generation. "Pulp Talents" like "Tough Guy" or "Weird Science' can keep your character alive longer and make him or her more unique. Also a important addition is "Investigator Luck" where you get and can spent luck points to ward off damage or even sanity loss- to a point. Not to be scorned is the fact that Hit Points are more or less twice what they were in standard CoC.Mysticism, Weird Science, and Hypnosis are also some of the things Investigators can get into. Keepers (Game Masters) can adjust things by the "Pulp-o-Meter" with optional rules.A nice section on the 1930s with plenty of background information is included. Good stuff for any game set in that period.Rounding out this excellent book are no less than four interesting looking adventures, complete with floor plans (one of a Zeppelin!) and plenty of handouts.Owning a copy of Call of Cthulhu will be handy, but not necessary.

A really good book for anyone who likes Cthulhu, pulp fiction, and/or role-playing games. Combines the horror rpg of Cthulhu with that of pulp fiction from the early part of the 20th Century. Whether it's radio dramas, classic movies, pulp books and comics, or some combination of those, the book gives a good overview of mixing the two tropes together. Expanding upon the Call of Cthulhu RPG series, it allows people to apply pulp fiction worlds to that of Call of Cthulhu with some samples included in the book. Even people who don't necessarily like one or more of the aforementioned things, it's still a good book. Definitely recommend it to people who like rpgs, pulp fiction material, and/or the Cthulhu mythos

My husband loved this book. He’s into DnD but has always loved HP Lovecraft. This was a perfect addition to his growing collection.

Pulp Cthulhu is the necessary revision to Chaosium's core rulebook, making the players a little less squishy and turning them more heroic. We feel less like we're on an inevitable path to insanity under the Pulp rules and gameply is a bit more dynamic. very useful for players new to Cthulhu. I recommend it.

There is one very important thing to note about this book: it is essentially a campaign sourcebook, and contains very few of the rules of the actual game. That is to say, it’s a book about how to run a pulp-style Call of Cthulhu game; so it has rules for creating pulp-style character, and very slight additions to the regular rule set, but it does not, for example, have any rules for combat, or most of the rest of the things required to run a Call of Cthulhu game. For that, you need the Keeper’s Guide, the main rulebook. Oddly, the alternate rulebook for players, the Investigator’s Handbook, is basically the same thing, just for a standard CoC game. Maybe that’s considered normal for this setting, but I’ve been an RPG gamer for thirty years, and it certainly surprised me. (what this means is that if you’re playing the a pulp game, you do NOT need both the Pulp Cthulhu book and the Investigator’s Handbook – they replicate the same things, for a pulp and standard settings, respectively. You will need a Keeper’s Rulebook, however).None of this takes away from the quality of the book, which is generally high. Text and illustrations are good, the index is a bit weird (the included adventures each have an index separate from the main one?), and it’s a kind of strange mix of things only needed by players and things only needed by gamemasters, but as long as you know that going in, it’s a solid purchase. I definitely prefer the Pulp setting to the standard one, for example.

Katie Prejean McGrady is a Catholic speaker and the author of Follow and Room 24. She served as one of three delegates for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops to the Pre-Synod Meeting on Young People, Faith, and Vocational Discernment in Rome in 2018.Tommy McGrady is an environmental science teacher at Lake Charles College Prep in Louisiana and a youth minister at Immaculate Conception Church.  He is the author of Life Teen’s Unleashed: Men of Scripture. He has spoken at a number of youth rallies and diocesan events throughout the country.   Together they cohost The Electric Waffle, a podcast about culture and Catholicism. Most evenings, they can be found sitting on their back porch reading, writing, laughing with friends, experimenting with new drink recipes, or watching the dog chase mosquitoes. The challenges are unique, manageable, and really connect to the purpose of Lent. Katie and Tommy have an amazing gift of making this huge challenge of Lent both impactful and practical. My daughter is an up and coming Steelers fan, so my wife and I told her she needs to know the history of the Steelers if she's going to be a true fan. She dove into this right away and really enjoyed it.

This book is great, even if you're an older fan like me. Even though I already knew some of the things written about here, it was great to relive some memories, as well as learn a lot of new info about the greatest NFL team ever -- the Pittsburgh Steelers! Recommended for hard core and casual fans alike.

I bought this book for my boyfriend! He loves it! I enjoyed it so much, that I had to buy the one for my team! I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a NFL fan!

This was a Christmas gift for my karate teacher in addition to some other fun Steelers products. I'm not knowledgeable enough to review the content--but it was liked and appreciated a lot by my instructor. He's such a fan, I think it made him feel great that he knew at least half of the facts. I expect to hear them when we are holding push up position on our knuckles!

This is a beautiful guest book. This was for a man's party so I really like 'HE THAT LOVETH' along the side and also there is a lot of symbolism around a dragonfly. There is a lot of room to write inside. We had about 200 people so there plenty of pages.

If you are starting to learn french this book is awesome. After listening to Paul Noble's audiobooks, we decided to get this book to go along. What an amazing teacher. Easy to follow long and pick up.
