She finally decides to take the plunge and see what Jett’s club, The Lafayette Room, has to offer and when she realizes just how much Jett could do for her, she jumps at the chance, she’s just not expecting to fall in love, with her boss of all people while she’s at it. Does Jett really want to help her or is she just a pawn in a bigger game?Told in the first person from both Goldie and Jett’s points of view, Bourbon Sins is easy to get caught up in from the first page. Quinn creates a world full of color, sound, and life that has been effortlessly brought to the page. New Orleans is presented in full Technicolor, and the story is all the stronger for it. The storyline is complex with twists and turns and the characters are multi-layered. Quinn is one of my go-to authors and it is a series like this that demonstrates why—I personally have come to expect silly, lighthearted, sexy romcoms, but Bourbon Sins is so much...more. Yes, there is the humorous element, Goldie’s mouth for instance, but there are so many other things going on that are a *part* of the story, but they are simply that, a part. Mix in intrigue, suspense, darkness, and it’s unlike anything I’ve encountered by this author before.I love the ensemble cast of the story and the banter and fun between them makes their close relationship tangible. I do have to admit though, Kace has my heart. There’s a scene where Goldie goes to show Kace just how ready she is to perform and it was perhaps one of the hottest things I’ve ever read. Is it wrong to root for a ménage book from the get go? Because I’d love to see Kace, Goldie, and Jett together, and I’m sure I’m not the only one!I absolutely love the mystery and suspense that involves all things Jett and the Jett girls. Having the story take place in New Orleans lends an additional layer of intrigue making for a sizzling hot, unforgettable story. I can’t wait to jump right into the next book!
Goldie/Lo (Little One) is certainly an interesting character. Waitressing at a low level adult club and trying to get out from under debts that aren't hers leaves her in a vulnerable position. Jett is intense, controlling and wants Goldie. This starts the story of these 2 characters on their journey to their own HEA. Goldie is fun and funny and Jett has been burned in his past, yes, I thought it was going to be the usual trope, but I was surprised in a lot of places. The story was quick paced with some intriguing mystery to keep the plot moving. I dropped it to 4 stars because I feel like it didn't need 2 more books to explain their relationship arc. You can pretty much tell how the next book goes. I'm thinking I'll skip part 2 and just move to the last part for the full wrap up.
This is my first book by Meghan Quinn and I am hooked. She writes it in such a way that it hooks you in and doesn't let you go. There is comedy..I mean piss yourself in some instances comedy, there is an actual story line and you find yourself invested in the characters that make up the story.Goldie is a smart and strong woman but circumstances has her making some crazy decisions, which she owns, but she really is doing the best she can in those circumstances. That is why she is a waitress at a sleazy strip club and why she is in a "paid" relationship with a married man. But one night two customers come into the establishment and they change all of that.Jett has a mission, and it is one that will soften your heart when you learn of it but I had trouble really liking him. He was swoon worthy don't get me wrong but he also had a harem at his disposal and emotional ties wasn't really his thing..until her.I was personally rooting for Goldie and Kace. OMG KACE!!! Now to me that is where the story is but Meghan obviously doesn't agree with me there so we get Goldie & Jett. They won't disappoint the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts too but I want me a Kace story!I really liked the overall story here..the background of all of the characters. The book was well written, it provided comedic relief after some pretty intense scenes and there were some that will pull at your heartstrings as well as needing a spare pair of panties.Relentlessbookchic approved & Recommended.
This book was something I was not expecting, at all and I mean that in the best way possible! Everything from the characters to the story line seemed so well thought out. The author was able to incorporate heat, humor and drama into this book and make everything come together.There were a lot of elements to this story with Goldie, Jett, their separate stories, to their own story together, then all the other outside characters. There seemed to be a lot happening but the author did an amazing job on not making it confusing and easy to follow. All the characters were complex but yet relatable. They were easy to empathize with. I am looking forward to reading more in this series and highly recommend everyone to read it!FMR BOOK GRIND
This was the story of Goldie and how she became a Jett girl. Jett saves young girls from bad situations and sets them up in exchange for becoming a "Jett girl" (an entertainer at an elite gentlemen so club) and submitting sexually to him.Goldie goes through training, has thick sexual tension with Kace (Jett's right hand man), and finally meets Jett. Jett is a damaged H and he has made rules for himself with his girls to avoid intimacy, and he is also dealing with a hostile relationship with his father.Is Goldie worth Jett breaking his rules? What about Kace and Rex? Lots of questions left in the air at the ending, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's a "cliffhanger".Lots of laughs with Goldie's wild sense of humor, a good bit of steam, and a few times I got teary eyed (I'm a sucker for mean words)...but I'm not necessarily jumping to buy the next one (just not feeling it--but might approach later) making it a 3.5 read.
