I purchased this (and its Paris version) for my 10 year olds as we prepared for a trip to London. They devoured it, were able to tell me many interesting facts about the city and were excited about a trip as a result. This is the type of book they pick up again and again. Great purchase.
This was a gift for my nephews. They loved it and my sister and brother-in-law used it as a teaching tool before their trip with young boys (6 and 10). It worked — the boys were excited about the trip and knew what they wanted to see, so appreciated it more.
This series is an excellent way to explore European cities, history, art and culture. My 7 year old refused to let me look at the books ("It says on the cover 'Not for parents!' Mommy!") But she ended up being our little tour guide, citing facts and gruesome stories (got to love European history!) and learning so much during out urban adventures.
Our 8-year-old daughter LOVED this. Granted, some of the cartoon-like depictions of heads on pikes at the Tower of London may be been a bit gruesome, but she had fun reading this "insiders guide" targeted at the tween set. Our kid is a bit precocious so she reads a lot of material aimed at the 9-12 crowd.
We are headed on a trip this summer and we got a few of these books for our kids to look through. Turns out my husband and I have enjoyed these just as much as our kids. Well laid out and fun to read.
I bought this for my 11 year old granddaughter to take on her trip to London to compete in the world competition for Irish dance in April. She had a grand time sharing all the unknown and sometimes creepy info with her friends. A big hit!
