I love this book! As the children’s director at our church and mom of four I am always looking for books that are biblically based, kid friendly and instructional to growing in a friendship with God. This book is all of the above! You won’t be disappointed!!!

This book is an amazing resource! I have been anticipating its arrival on my desk and am so thrilled to have it in my hands now. I have recently been looking for something new to use in explaining and teaching our kids on prayer. I LOVE THIS BOOK! 'God Wants You to Pray' is my current favorite section.

I love how this book gives examples of prayers for kids, along with poems and challenges. It covers prayers from the simple to the complex, the good, the bad and the ugly - the ups & downs of life. It talks about questions kids have, fears, joy, sadness, being thankful, etc.... It also has connections with real people from the Bible, along with scripture and a place for kids to write their own prayers!

This is a great way for kids (and parents) to learn to pray. A variety of people (both male and female) from the bible have a short story about a challenge they faced and how they prayed to God about it followed by a space for the kid to write their own prayer. A great resource for kids! With the help of a parent, advanced kids in Kindergarten/Preschool can benefit from the book; it is perfect for grades 1-3 to interact with on their own.

What an excellent collection of the thoughts from babes. I enjoyed how many boys referenced how they would enjoy having Marilyn Monroe or Jane Mansfield as their mother. If you don’t know who they are, take the time and do a little research. In my day, it was Raquel Welch! When it came to a father figure, Dwight David Eisenhower was a unanimous choice. For me I’d have to say it was John Wayne.While I enjoyed many of the comments Art was able to pry out of the young minds, it was his lessons in parenting that resonated with me.The lessons he taught and the disciplinary principles he enforced on his own children are the ones I grew up with, yet have fallen to the wayside by those who deem themselves, progressive and know better. Dr. Spock comes to mind. Idiot.People today cry and complain about the current state of the United States. Our current election is a perfect example of how low our society has stooped. Yet no one, for some reason, knows how to fix it. Well, that’s because they’re as blind as bats and don’t want to be responsible for their actions. It’s always someone else’s fault. Don’t believe me? Turn on the news and find a politician from either side of the aisle that will admit they’ve made a mistake. Instead, they blame it on Congress. “But aren’t you one of those who makes up Congress?” Utter silence or plausible deniability. This thinking has crept into all facets of our daily life. If you want to stop crying and whining, then start admitting to mistakes and looking for ways to correct them.I didn’t mean for this to turn into a political debate, but that’s how strong the principles he brings up in this excellent book. I lost count how many times he would ask questions concerning God and Jesus and the children had the answer, not always what Art was looking for, ready for delivery. And, they would say they read the bible or learned about it in school. What a foreign thought for many of today’s youth.Another caveat was the background of the children he chatted with. They came from all walks of life and incomes, yet many of their answers were the truthful responses we expect from those who minds are still open and absorb every little thing they hear.If you want to find out how children think and the things we adults wish they wouldn’t have heard or seen, take the time to pick up a copy and see a reflection of our youthful years.A resounding five stars, then and now!

ART LINKLETTER WAS A ICON ON HIS GREAT TV SHOW. I REMENBER WATCHING IT WITH MY MOM EVERYDAY. IT WAS OUR FAVORITE SHOW. AND I REMEMBER OUR FAVORITE PART THE GREAT KIDS. HIS LOVE FOR KIDS SHOWED IN EVERY KID HE TALKED TO.I REMEMBER THE VERY FIRST COPY OF HIS CLASSIC BOOK I BOUGHT AT THE DIME STORE IN ALBANY INDIANA. FOR THREE DOLLARS MOM AND I WORE IT OUT I NOW HAVE AT LEAST TWO MORE COPIES OF IT. WE LOVED IT. UNITL THIS DAY IT IS STILL A FAVORITE BOOK OF MINE. I AM GOING TO LOAN THIS COPY TO A FRIEND WHO WAS TALKING OUT ART AND HIS KIDS. THE OTHER DAY SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER COPY OF IT TO LET HER READ THIS CLASSIC BOOK SHE WILL LOVE IT. LIKE IDO.

This will be a gift for my granddaughter on her birthday. During a business trip many years ago my husband sat next to Art Linkletter on a plane. Being the talker that my husband was, he came home with a signed drawing that Mr. Linkletter made for our granddaughter for her birthday. She was too young at the time to appreciate the drawing. I have had it framed and will be giving this book to her along with the drawing.

I consider this one of the funniest books ever written. Art Linkletter tells about his conversations with children on his "House Party" TV program, and the stories are pure gold. Bill Cosby hosted a show of the same name, and he was funny enough, but he tended to use the kids as straight men (or straight women, as it were) for his jokes. By contrast, Art Linkletter was the straight man, and he knew how to phrase questions so the kids would deliver the punch lines. It's an old book, but the humor is as timeless as it is priceless.

I grew up with Art Linkletter, and his book and radio/tv shows are entertainment legends. I often refer to many of his kids' comments when I speak to groups. This is typical of young kids who aren't afraid to tell it like it is.

This is a collection of stories from Linkletter's daily interviews with kids on his old House Party TV show. They were the highpoint of most episodes.I read it many, many years ago when I was about 14. Love reading it now and burst out with a laugh almost every other page. Linkletter really understood kids.Highly recommended for anyone who remembers his show and for people who live the great things that kids say.

I found a used copy of the Kids Still Say the Darndest Things and my son picked it up. He keeps telling me that he doesn't like to read. He read this book in one day, and asked me to order the one that preceded it, so I ordered KIDS SAY THE DARDEST THINGS,and he read that one in a day as well!!. It's not exactly a classic novel, but as long as he is enjoying reading, I think it will lead him to pick up other things that interest him. I would recommend this book to anyone, as there are many very humorous things that children said to Art Linkletter, and in some ways, a lot of that innocence in children is not so much there these days. It's a great family book to have around.

Art Linkletter's House Party was a staple of afternoon TV in the 50s, and one of the regular features was his interviews with young children, who were candid, sometimes embarassingly so. Linkletter's favorite question was 'What did your mother tell you NOT to say?' and of course the kids would immediately spill the beans about family secrets and other taboo subjects. This book is endlessly entertaining reading for everyone who enjoys a good laugh.

I use a Garmin GPS when traveling in new areas but I always like to look a paper map before I go so if I hit a detour or some other common problem, I know the general layout and can react. It's also easier to plan a trip looking at a paper map vs a screen image. Finding paper maps is increasingly difficult, so I was happy to see this product, got it, and it works.I love my GPS unit and recommend them highly, but, (1.) while they are right about 95% of the time, they are terribly, terribly wrong about 5% of the time, taking you far afield for no apparent reason or to a completely wrong place, so if you haven't looked at a regular map, you will just cheerfully be delivered to the lions and wake up screwed; and, (2.) in general, I think there cam be be repercussions with everyone using GPS units since you get there without actually knowing how you did it, you have no idea where you are, and you miss something. Not only do you miss the ability to react quickly if a problem arises, you don't learn about the area, your options, etc. I won't give up my GPS but I won't give up using maps, either! And if terrorists ever manage to cripple our GPS satellites some day, I'll be fine, everyone else will be lost and dazed!I usually prefer American Maps to Rand McNally, but American Maps seems to have disappeared, and this Rand McNally is fine.

I am a roadmap collector and recently bought the RandMcNally maps for all 50 states, plus a US Interstate map. I like the large scale used and helps considering my vision is less than ideal. I also use these maps to supplement the official maps that I also have for the entire country

Could not find a just MA map from AAA or gas stations, so this filled the bill,, typical paper map,, perfect for my use.. I hope Rand McNally does not stop maps or stock of them,,

Who knew what you could do on a notebook page with that stuff? Not me, at least. Or maybe I did but forgot!The best thing about this book is you can open it to any page and see something you can try right away and turn out something better than you expected. It's very visual, the ideas and projects mostly take just a two-page spread, and it's organized just the way you need -- if you need materials, there's a list. If you need something to start with, there are pictures and examples galore.I usually feel put off by books about art projects because they show results that are beautiful but need long practice, a studio full of specialized stuff, and weeks of dedication. THESE projects I can actually do with the things already available, reasonable amounts of time, and, in my case, little or no practice since Mrs. Johnson's second grade class.

She starts out giving us permission to be imperfect in our journals. She reminds us that our journals are places to experiment, to be raw, and that we don't need to be creating pages that look like works of art (as many of the other art journaling books lead us to believe). She shows us that indeed art journaling can be done without a studio filled with expensive supplies. We can journal with pencil, pen and paper - who knew? I love that most of the exercises can be completed quickly and with just a writing instrument of choice, journal or other paper and perhaps a colored pencil or two. We can expand and use scissors, a clipping from an old book page and a glue stick. All things that pretty much everyone already has!How refreshing to be reminded that my lines don't need to be perfectly straight, my letters don't all have to slant in the same direction or even be the same size! This is the book I have been looking for! Quinn encourages us to make our own marks - imperfect as they may look to anyone else. The techniques can all be done by anyone, any place.I'm buying copies for friends who have been missing out on art journaling because they insist they aren't creative, can't draw or don't know what to write. This book is just what they need and it's just what experienced art journalers can use time and time again to try something different.
